Early fashion influences

“I have always been a fan of 50’s and 60’s Hollywood, the jet set lifestyle. I love the kind of clean, dramatic glamour of the period, strong silhouettes in luxurious fabrics like silk shantung, brocade, duchess satin and Chantilly lace” Daniel Learmont Couture’s creations have a sense of elegance combined with modern glamour.

Daniel Learmont Couture crafts custom made bridal gowns with passion and creative spirit and loves to work in collaboration with the client. Daniel listens to the concepts and dreams and steps through each process with fine detail, from beginning to end.

Daniel Learmont Couture combines the best of old world glamour and modern stylish design, with hand sourced fine fabrics from around the globe to create stunning and original silhouettes. Daniel is known to work with Italian and French lace, creating a modern couture design. We design to compliment the clients curves and to match their individual personality.. “All my designs are custom made,”. “I offer a one-on-one experience for my clients. We have a chat over coffee and I find out what they have in mind. I have samples in my studio where they can get inspiration and ideas from and I create the dream gown that is an original. If brides to be want more from the experience Daniel loves to takes his clients fabric shopping to take part in the process of dressmaking. “There is a lot of collaboration between me and the client,” Daniel says. “Once they’ve decided on the type of dress, it is then my job to try my best to create a design that they want; one which will look amazing and one which they’ll love.”

The Process

Daniel Learmont Couture specialises in creating unique one off garments for discerning women. Our atelier’s focus is on the individual client, hand crafted garments designed to fit and flatter their figure as well and their personality and fit seamlessly into the lifestyle.

Using hand selected textiles sourced from mills in Italy, France and Spain, as well as suppliers in New York and locally. Each garment starts its life as a sketch and fabrics selection.

Then a toile is created in house for the first fitting. Then between the second fitting to the 4th at the time of collection the piece is finessed and crafted by Daniel and the team of skilled tailors and seams-persons.

FAQs

1Dress Consultations and Try-Ons
Our design consultations and try on's are a one hour deep dive between Daniel and his clients. Up to four dresses may be tried. We charge $150 for initial consultations. This fee is deducted from the final price of your gown. To book a consultation go to 'Book An Appointment' in our site menu.
2Time Frames
We usually like to have at least three months but our standard time frame is six months start to finish to complete a gown. However this depends on the complexity of the gown. We understand that sometimes people have shorter time frames and we do our best to accomodate everyone.
3Fittings
Each gown usually takes 3-4 fittings, this depends on the gown. Each dress differs and the number of fittings will be determined by Daniel at the time of booking. However if YOU wish to have extra fittings outside the allotted number given in your initial quote they are charged at $150 per 45 minute block from the time booked.
4Alterations
Daniel Learmont couture offers an alteration service for bridal gowns and evening wear. We require at least four weeks notice of the event and the dress must be picked up no later than one week after the completion of alterations.
5How to Prepare for a Consultation
Come to your fittings as natural as possible, without fake tan or heavy make up. You may be trying dresses on and this greatly helps with the preservation of our gowns and stops yours getting soiled before the big day.

Have your wedding dates set. We understand that it's exciting to have your gown made and to try things on but the venue, season and theme have a great effect on the style of the dress you choose.

Only bring your nearest and dearest, the people who will be able to give you positive honest constructive feedback, generally it is best to have no more than three people.

Keep a folder of pictures and ideas you like as this will help us get an idea of your vision.

Always come with an open mind when having a gown custom made. Be open to styles you may not have been initially considering. Couture is created just for you. Our design process involves a deep amount of thought and consideration for each dress. And our process reflects this, we believe the best and truest reflection of the individuals personality comes from a distillation and refining of ideas transferred into the cloth.
